Carl Philip von Maldeghem was born in 1969. After studying law in Passau, he studied acting and directing in New York. He worked for three years at the Salzburg Festival as press spokesman and personal advisor to artistic director Gerard Mortier and from 1997 to 2002 he regularly worked together with Peter Stein as co-director, production manager and assistant director at the Easter Festival in Salzburg, the Maggio Musicale in Florence and at the Vienna State Opera. From 1998 he worked at the Baden State Theater in Karlsruhe as in-house director and personal advisor to the artistic director Pavel Fieber and staged in plays, musicals and operas. In autumn 2002, Carl Philip von Maldeghem took over the management of the Schauspielbühnen in Stuttgart as the youngest director of a large theater in German-speaking countries. Through to new artistic impulses, he succeeded in bringing the theater, with the total number of visitors, among the "top three" of German theaters several times. In 2009, Carl Philip von Maldeghem took over the management of the Salzburg State Theater. There has been an artistic boom in all branches since the first season. Until 2014 the total number of performances increased significantly and an increase in audience attendance of 80% was recorded. Important productions: "Master Class" by Terrence McNally, "Orestes Homecoming" by Aeschylus / Stein, "L’inganno felice" by Gioacchino Rossini, "Simone Boccanegra" by Giuseppe Verdi (mus. Cond. Claudio Abbado, Ferrara), Schumann`s "Manfred" (mus. Cond. Claudio Abbado, with Bruno Ganz), Homer's "Odyssey", Jean Paul Sartre's "Huis Clos", Shakespeare's "Hamlet", "A Midsummer Night's Dream", Thomas Mann's "Buddenbrooks", world premiere of John von Düffel's "Seven Sonnets", Goethe's "Faust I" and "Faust II", German premiere of "Himmel über Berlin" by Handke / Wenders, Camus` " Die Pest "and" Der Ring des Nibelungen "in coproduction with the Salzburg Marionette Theater.
