Musical theatre from Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
to Alma Deutscher
With Alma Deutscher’s opera “Cinderella”, the work of one of the youngest composers of the new millennium is represented in this season’s opera programme; this fairy tale opera will also be staged in a special version for children from the age of six. Mozart’s “Magic Flute” returns to the stage of the Salzburg State Theatre in a very imaginative new production. The great classic is contrasted with the contemporary opera thriller “Anthropocene” by Stuart MacRae, whose Continental European premiere had been scheduled for May and was moved into the new season. Paul Abraham’s jazz operetta “The Flower of Hawaii” makes for a buoyant and entertaining start into the new opera season.
