Our Venue & Its History
The Salzburg State Theatre is the leading and most influential institution for the performing arts in the city and state of Salzburg. Under one roof, opera, drama, ballet, and the youth division "Junges Land" collaborate as four vibrant and distinctive departments. Each season, running from September to June, the theatre presents around 400 performances.

Eco Label
On 19 October 2022, the BMK (Federal Ministry for Climate Action, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology) confirmed that the Salzburg State Theatre has been awarded the Austrian Ecolabel following the newly introduced criteria for spoken and musical theatre. This makes the Salzburg State Theatre the first operation in Austria to achieve certification under these standards.
