OPERA
Salzburg Opera is the central institution for professional musical theatre in Mozart´s home town: a vivacious opera company presenting six to eight new productions per season with a great ensemble in repertory and some of the best singers in the world joining us for debuts and guest performances. Each season is dedicated to clear artistic principles: to produce Mozart´s works in new perspectives, core classics in the great Festival venues, but also to the discovery of unexplored baroque treasures as well as rare works of the 20th century and the development of contemporary works. Internationally successful conductors and directors assemble for a vision of artistic excellence in a city where operatic history has been written.
THEATRE
Salzburg Theatre is the leading theatre company for the city and the state of Salzburg. The work of the company is inspired by Max Reinhardt´s vision to understand »the city as a stage«. The program commits to contemporary and classical texts as well as to aesthetic and public discourse. The core of the artistic work is the responsibility of the company´s ensemble. Their work is complemented by
guest performers. The company was widely acclaimed for its »Faust« marathon including »Faust I« and »Faust II », but also for its artistic work embracing the community and establishing Austria´s fi rst Community Stage.
DANCE
Salzburg Ballet is the internationally renowned dance company of the Salzburg State Theatre. Its success is rooted in the strong personalities of the dancers and the artistic vision of ballet director Peter Breuer. The excellence and focus of the company has always been classical dance combined with innovative elements of Modern Dance. With its international tours, Salzburg Ballet serves as artistic ambassador for Salzburg. Since 2011, there has been a close affi liation with Bolshoi School Joinville to develop young talent.
YOUNG THEATRE
»Junges Land« is the Theatre for Young Audiences at the Salzburg State Theatre. All artists contribute to innovative productions for the audiences of tomorrow. Adaptions of classical works are performed as well as explorations of new texts. The artistic work is completed by a wide-ranging program of education activities reaching out to the public.
