Chigusa Fujiyoshi

Ballet

The Japanese dancer Chigusa Fujiyoshi began her ballet training in 1996 at the Kawaguchi Yuriko Ballet School in Tokyo and, from 2007, studied at The Rock School for Dance Education in Philadelphia.

In 2010, she placed third at the NBA Ballet Competition in Tokyo. She was a member of the Ballet Chambre Ouest Company Tokyo, where she danced the roles of the Sugar Plum Fairy and the Snow Queen in “The Nutcracker”, Swanilda in “Coppélia”, the leading roles of Odette/Odile in “Swan Lake”, as well as the Stepsister and the Autumn Fairy in “Cinderella”.

She has been known to Salzburg ballet audiences since the 2015/2016 season, when she already supported the ballet ensemble in “Mythos Coco”, “Sündenfall” and “Forever 27”. Since April 2017, she has been a permanent ensemble member of the ballet at the Salzburg Landestheater. She has appeared in solo roles including Gerda in “Lili, the Danish Girl” and Colombina in “Jolanthe / The Nutcracker”. Most recently, she impressed audiences as a soloist in Yonggeol Kim’sBoléro”.
