Gregor Schulz was born in Schwedt/Oder and grew up in Hanover. He began acting at an early age, with his first roles at Schauspiel Hannover. In 2012, he began his acting studies at the Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Arts in Berlin, graduating with a diploma in 2016. Schulz was awarded the “Deutschlandstipendium” for particularly talented and socially committed acting students. Extended artistic exchange trips took him to Shanghai, China, and Mexico City. During his studies, he appeared at the Schaubühne, the Volksbühne and the Berliner Ensemble.

Since 2016, he has been a member of the ensemble at the Salzburg State Theatre, where he has played title roles in “Don Carlos”, “Prince Friedrich von Homburg”, “Hamlet” and “The Little Vampire”. He also appeared in Elfriede Jelinek’s “Das Licht im Kasten” and “Wolken.Heim/Am Königsweg”, as well as in “Buddenbrooks”, “The Attacks of Next Week”, “Odyssey”, “The Little Ghost”, “Ballhaus – Ein Sommernachtstraum”, and most recently in “America”.

From 2018 to 2024, he portrayed Mephisto in Goethe’s classic “Faust”. Since 2024, in the production “Faust²”, he has embodied both Faust and Mephisto from “Faust I” and “Faust II”.

For his portrayal of Franz von Moor in “The Robbers”, he was nominated for “Best Young Actor” in the critics’ poll of “Theater heute” and received the 2021 Nestroy Theatre Prize in the category “Best Young Male Actor”. In summer 2025, Schulz made his debut at the Reichenau Festival in Joseph Roth’s “Job”.
