Alisa Scetinina

orn in Latvia, Alisa Scetinina has been interested in music and Latvian dance ever since a young age. The first time she visited the theatre, she fell in love with ballet and decided there and then that she wanted to become a dancer. In 2005, her wish came true, and she was accepted into the Riga Choreography School. At the age of 15, she moved to Germany to study Ballet at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich. She went on to dance for the Bavarian State Opera and the Stuttgart State Opera.

After five years of focusing on ballet, Scetinina decided to explore new paths and applied for a place at the Academy of Fine Arts Stuttgart. She spent her spare time delving further into the world of music. She rapidly developed a passion for analogue devices, which she now uses in her live sets. Scetinina’s music takes a step away from the typical genre categories with a unique repertoire that she constantly updates and expands.

In addition to her work in the field of music, she is also interested in visual projects such as analogue photography (mostly behind but sometimes also in front of the camera), collages and video productions, which she often combines with her music for added context. Her varied interests result in symbioses of auditory and visual material in which she presents herself in an increasingly contemporary form of movement. In her works, which fall between choreography and improvisation, Scetinina takes on the role of composer, cinematographer and performer.
