Beth Jones

Beth Jones is an American soprano, actress, translator/editor and painter.
After initially studying biology, she soon switched to a double major in theatre/acting and music/vocal performance at the University of Iowa, USA, where she took on leading roles in university productions including “Godspell”, “110 in the Shade” (Lizzy), “The King Stag” and “L’enfant et les sortilèges” (L’enfant).
Since 1991, she has been a member of the chorus at Salzburger Landestheater, where she has also appeared in numerous solo roles, including Sister Margareta in “The Sound of Music”, the tour guide in “Im weißen Rössl”, the Cousin in “Madama Butterfly”, as well as roles in “West Side Story” and “Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny”. As part of the “Jedermann” productions, she appeared on stage for eight years as a member of the Dinner Party.
Alongside her artistic work, she has worked for many years as an English-German translator for clients in Austria and abroad, including Greenpeace, SalzburgerLand Tourism, the cities of Salzburg and Linz, the Lautten Compagney Baroque Ensemble in Berlin, Salzburg Global Seminar and many others. Drawing on this extensive experience, she also had the privilege of working until 2022 as an editorial translator for English-language publications of the Max Planck Society for the Advancement of Science.
In her free time, she is also an enthusiastic amateur painter.
