Carlo Massari

Regisseur

Carlo Massari is a transdisciplinary artist, choreographer, and performer, known for hybridizing and blending different performing arts. He is the founder and artistic director of C&C Company, a research and production company specializing in dance theatre, active since 2011.

With C&C, he has created several award-winning works, including "Maria Addolorata" (HiverOclytes – Avignon, International Choreography Competition – Hannover, Tanzpreise – Bern), "Tristissimo" (Premio Roma Danza, Les Lendemains qui Dansent – Arques), "Beast without Beauty" (ActFestival – Bilbao 2019), and "Les Miserables" (NID Platform). In 2020, he was awarded the CollaborActionXL Prize by the AnticorpiXL Network and was named Associate Artist of the Oriente Occidente Festival for his productions "Right" and "Strangers in the Night".

As a choreographer, he has received commissions from prestigious institutions such as the Ravenna Festival, Accademia Filarmonica Romana, Bologna Festival, Ferrara Musica, Nuova Consonanza, Cie. Balletto Teatro di Torino, Cie. OPUS Ballet, and MM Company. In opera, he has worked as a movement dramaturg for theatres including Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, Teatro Regio di Parma, and the Salzburg Landestheater, collaborating with directors such as Damiano Michieletto, Silvia Paoli, and Andrea Bernard.

In 2019, in collaboration with Leggere Strutture, he founded Art Factory ANFIBIA – a transdisciplinary training program for contemporary performers and creatives. He is also the founder and artistic director of Danzare il Tramonto, an eco-sustainable, zero-impact festival that fosters dialogue between diverse artistic visions related to contemporary dance, set in open-air natural environments.
