Chiara Osella
Director
Chiara Osella was a finalist of the 13th Opera Europa Directing Prize and made her directorial debut at the Turkistan Music and Drama Theater with the play "Magzhan" and at the Teatro Regio di Torino with Mozart’s "Bastien und Bastienne". She also contributed to the script for the worldwide broadcast of the 2020 Teatro alla Scala season opening.
Trained by director Davide Livermore, she works as an assistant director for opera productions at prestigious venues including Teatro alla Scala, Teatro dell’Opera di Roma, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, Teatro Bellini di Catania, Palau de Les Arts in Valencia, Festival Torre del Lago Puccini, and Soirées Lyriques de Sanxay.
She began her career as an opera singer, winning the Spoleto TLS Competition and joining the Centre de Perfeccionament Plácido Domingo at the Palau de les Arts in Valencia. Her performances include classical, baroque, and especially contemporary repertoire, appearing at notable venues such as Teatro Regio Torino, the Royal Opera House Muscat, and the Seoul Arts Center, among others.
As co-founder and co-arranger of the crossover project "Swing Opera", she has successfully presented the initiative at events such as the Festival Verdi OFF, Macerata Opera Festival, Umbria Jazz, and more. Her collaboration with the contemporary transdisciplinary theatre-dance company C&C / Carlo Massari highlights her role as creator, performer, and vocal coach.
She graduated with honors from the Faculty of Arts, Music, and Performing Arts in Turin (IT), specializing in planning and techniques of educational and social theatre, aligning with her commitment to projects such as "Community Opera", "Inclusive Opera", and "Get Close to Opera" within the RESEO network.
