Christiane Silberhumer

Leader Junges Land / Director

The Upper Austria–born artist studied Romance languages as well as Theatre, Film and Media Studies in Vienna, where she also completed her training as a theatre educator. During her studies, she gained practical experience in various areas of theatre, including Garage X, Theater der Jugend, and the cultural association gutgebrüllt.

From 2015 to 2019, she worked at the Lehár Festival Bad Ischl, where she led the children’s and youth project “Etterepo”. Between 2017 and 2021, she was engaged as a stage director (Spielleiterin) at Landestheater Niederbayern and headed the Youth Club in Landshut. She made her directing debut in 2019 with the children’s opera “Gold!” in Passau. Further productions at Landestheater Niederbayern followed before she joined Salzburg State Theatre in 2021.

At Salzburg State Theatre, she worked as an assistant director on numerous productions across several disciplines and quickly became an integral member of the creative teams for major children’s and youth productions such as “Peter Pan” and “The Flying Classroom”. This was followed by the development and realization of the devised theatre project “Adrenaline – A Classroom Tragedy” within the acting club, created in collaboration with Patricia Pfisterer.

Christiane Silberhumer’s production of “The Beginning of Almost Everything” was honored at STELLA*25 (Austrian Theatre Award for Young Audiences) in the category “Spot On” for its interdisciplinary and participatory approach.

In the 2024/25 season, she directed “At the Ark at Eight” for the youngest audiences, a production that humorously yet thoughtfully explores major existential questions. In the current season, teenage audiences experience her distinctive and gripping directorial style in “K.I.M. – Lotte Suffers”.

Since the 2025/26 season, she has shared the artistic leadership of the “Junges Land” division with Anna Lukasser-Weitlaner.
