Dani Catalán Dávila (Onda, Castellón) began his musical training in childhood and moved to Valencia in 2008 to study classical percussion at the Conservatorio Superior Joaquín Rodrigo, where he made his solo debut with Ney Rosauro’s Marimba Concerto. He received awards at international competitions such as the Concorso Internazionale Città di Fermo (Italy, 2009) and the Concurso Internacional de Percusión Perkullíria (Spain, 2010).
Since 2015, he has lived in Germany, where he studied jazz vibraphone with Florian Poser at the University of the Arts Bremen, earning several university prizes. He has given masterclasses at Spanish universities and conservatories and has been a guest lecturer at the University of Music and Drama Hanover as well as previously at the University of Music Detmold.
Currently, he focuses on composing music for theatre, collaborating with institutions such as the Oldenburg State Theatre, Schauspiel Zürich, Theater Oberhausen, Deutsches Theater Göttingen, and the Staatstheater Nürnberg. Upcoming projects include work with the Burgtheater Vienna and Schauspiel Leipzig. He is an endorser of Morgan Mallets and has his own mallet model.
