Ebru Tartıcı Borchers
Director
Ebru Tartıcı Borchers, born in Hatay (Türkiye), studied Acting at Bilkent University in Ankara and Directing at the Thomas Bernhard Institute of the Mozarteum University in Salzburg. She completed her directing studies in 2022 with the world premiere of „Knechte“ by Caren Jeß at Kosmos Theater Vienna. Since then, she has worked as a freelance director at theatres such as Theater Oberhausen, Osnabrück, Staatstheater Mainz, Deutsches Theater Göttingen, Schauspielhaus Zürich, and the Burgtheater in Vienna.
In 2023 she was nominated for the German Theatre Award DER FAUST, and in 2023 and 2025 as Best Emerging Artist in Theater Heute critics’ poll. For her work translating German-language plays into Turkish, she received the 2023 Authors’ Foundation Prize in Frankfurt am Main.
Since 2024 she has been part of the artistic direction of the Oldenburg State Theatre as in-house director. „Triage“ is her first production at the Salzburg State Theatre.
