Elisabeth Mackner

Elisabeth Mackner was born and raised in Salzburg. She studied Theatre, Film, and Media Studies at the University of Vienna, where she also completed professional acting training at the Krauss Acting School alongside her Master’s degree. Further training took her to the Lee Strasberg Film & Theatre Institute in New York City.

In the 2021/22 season, she began a four-year engagement at the Salzburg State Theatre as an assistant director and actress. She assisted directors such as Dörte Lyssewski, Susanne Schmelcher, and Johannes Ender. On stage, she appeared in productions including “The Center of the World” as Dianne, “The Wizard of Oz” as the Lion, and as Erato in the musical “Xanadu.”

In the 2024/25 season, she co-directed the youth theatre club and staged the devised production “New Me!” She will make her directing debut with the opening production of the 2025/26 season at Junges Land, “Trip To Panama” by Janosch. From November, she will return to the stage in “The Little Ghost.”
