Julia Rath
Chorus Member
The Salzburg-based soprano Julia Christina Rath, BA BA MA MA, began her career as a chorister with the Salzburg Boys’ and Girls’ Choir as well as the choir of the Musisches Gymnasium Salzburg. She also performed for many years as a violinist with the Musiziergemeinschaft Hopferwieser and the Salzburg University Orchestra.
In 2005, she began her vocal studies at the Mozarteum University Salzburg with Aud Kjellaug Tesaker, continued her bachelor studies with Boris Bakow, and completed her master’s degrees under Michèle Crider. She graduated with distinction in “Elementary Music and Dance Education” (2010), “Lied and Oratorio” (2014), and “Opera and Music Theatre” (2016).
During her studies, she performed roles such as Rosalinde in Johann Strauss’s “Die Fledermaus” and Mère Marie in Francis Poulenc’s “Dialogues des Carmélites”.
She was a long-time member of the movement choir at the Salzburg Festival and regularly appears as a soloist in church performances.
In 2001, she was a founding member of the Salzburg synchronized figure skating team “Sweet Mozart,” competing in several world championships and continuing to coach young talents to this day.
Since 2006, she has worked at the Salzburg State Theatre in the extra chorus and as a stage extra, and since 2025 she has been a permanent member of the house choir (2nd soprano).
In the 2025/2026 season, she appears as Sister Bertha in The Sound of Music and as Mieze (cover) in “Berlin Alexanderplatz”.
