Magdalena Hinterdobler began the 2025/26 season with her highly acclaimed debut as Ellen Orford in Britten’s Peter Grimes at the Oper Frankfurt. Other highlights of this season include Verdi’s Tosca at the Finnish National Opera in Helsinki as well as her Japan debut with the YNSO in Tokyo.
Since the 2023/24 season, Magdalena Hinterdobler has been a member of the Oper Frankfurt ensemble, where she gave her much-praised debut as Eva in Wagner’s Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg and has been celebrated for roles such as Elisabetta in Verdi’s "Don Carlo", Chrysothemis in Strauss’ "Elektra", and Natalie in Henze’s "Der Prinz von Homburg".
Previously, the soprano was a member of the Oper Leipzig ensemble, where she performed alongside the Gewandhaus Orchestra in roles including Rusalka, Mimì in Puccini’s "La Bohème", Marie in Smetana’s "The Bartered Bride", and various Wagnerian roles such as the Third Norn, Ortlinde, and Gutrune in "Der Ring des Nibelungen". Guest engagements have taken her to the Prague State Opera, Oper Köln, Deutsche Oper Berlin, and Staatsoper Hannover.
In concert, the youthful-dramatic soprano has appeared with orchestras such as the Munich Radio Orchestra, the Bamberg Symphony, the Dresden Philharmonic, and the Gewandhaus Orchestra Leipzig. In the field of lieder, she maintains a close artistic collaboration with pianist Gerold Huber.
Born in Straubing, Magdalena Hinterdobler studied with Andreas Schmidt and in the lied class of Helmut Deutsch at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich, as well as at the Bavarian Theatre Academy August Everding.
