Max Immendorf
Director
Max Immendorf was born in 1993 in Germany’s Ruhr region. He studied philosophy, literature, and theatre studies in Bochum and Leipzig. From 2020 to 2023, he worked as an assistant director at Theater Bonn, and from 2023 onward at the Schaubühne am Lehniner Platz. He has collaborated with directors such as Sascha Hawemann, Nuran David Calis, Laura Linnenbaum, Yana Thönnes, Falk Richter, and Thomas Ostermeier.
In his work, Max Immendorf explores the margins of society, focusing on existentially political and social issues. He is particularly interested in stories of people whose voices often go unheard.
Since 2014, he has realized his own projects as a freelance director, including productions at Schauspiel Essen, Rabbit Hole Theater Essen, and Lofft Leipzig. At Mousonturm Frankfurt/Main, he premiered Esther Dischereit’s "Der Verdacht". At Theater Bonn, he directed "Pussy Riot – Anleitung für eine Revolution", "Das Floß der Medusa", and most recently "Das beispielhafte Leben des Samuel W.".
