Maximilian Schmiedl
Drama
Born in Vienna, Maximilian Schmiedl completed his final acting examination at the Schauspielschule of the Wiener Volkstheater. He then joined the Städtische Bühnen Osnabrück, where he appeared as Puck in Shakespeare’s "A Midsummer Night’s Dream", Franz in Schiller’s "The Robbers", Hase in "Hase Hase", Pinneberg in "Little Man, What Now?", and Valerio in "Leonce and Lena".
After this period, he moved to the Staatstheater Karlsruhe, where he first played Ferdinand in Schiller’s "Intrigue and Love" and Louis in "Angels in America". During this time, he met Carl Philip von Maldeghem, today’s artistic director, who was then assistant to the intendant. Their first collaboration was the widely acclaimed stage adaptation of "Trainspotting".
Following an offer from intendant Lutz Hochstraate, Maximilian Schmiedl moved from Karlsruhe to the Salzburger Landestheater, where he appeared in productions such as Gogol’s "The Government Inspector", once again as Ferdinand in Schiller’s "Intrigue and Love", Torvald Helmer in Ibsen’s "A Doll’s House", and in Shakespeare’s "As You Like It".
Due to various circumstances, the Vienna-born actor left the theatre to focus more on film, music, and the private sector. A later encounter with Carl Philip von Maldeghem brought him back to Salzburg, where Maximilian Schmiedl can now be seen as Egeus in the world premiere of "Ballhaus – A Midsummer Night’s Dream".
