Natascha Maraval

Stage and costume design

Born in Vorarlberg, Natascha Maraval completed training in fashion and production technology before studying Theatre Studies and Art History at the University of Vienna.

After working as an assistant on various productions, she has been a freelance costume and set designer since 2005. She has created designs for numerous opera, musical theatre and drama productions at theatres in Vienna, Graz, St. Gallen, Munich, Dresden, Mainz, Magdeburg, Luxembourg and Cottbus.

She has maintained a long-standing collaboration with director Tim Kramer as well as with director Christiane Lutz, with whom she was a finalist as part of a team at the Ring Award 2014 directing competition.

During the 2018/19 season, Natascha Maraval was responsible for the overall design of Wagner’s “The Flying Dutchman” at Staatstheater Cottbus, as well as the costume design for Verdi’s “Rigoletto” in Glyndebourne.

For the 2024 Burgplatz Open Air production presented by Staatstheater Braunschweig, she worked with director Jan Eßinger for the first time and designed the costumes for Verdi’s “Il Trovatore”. Since 2020, she has increasingly been working in film.
