Sarah Zaharanski
Drama
Sarah Zaharanski, born in Hallein, studied acting at the University of Art and Design Graz from 2008 to 2012. She subsequently performed at venues including the Schaubühne Berlin, Stadttheater Klagenfurt, Schauspielhaus Graz, and the Salzburg Festival. Her artistic development has been shaped by influential collaborations with Johann Kresnik, Anna Badora, Igor Bauersima, Konstanze Lauterbach, and Alvis Hermanis.
Alongside her stage work, she regularly appears in film and television productions. She made her feature film debut in Elisabeth Scharang’s "Wald", which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival. With the film "Der Soldat Monika", she took on her first leading role in cinema. The film premiered at the Doclisboa Festival in Lisbon and was screened in competition at the Torino Film Festival. In addition, she has received multiple awards for her voice work and can be heard regularly on ORF and Ö1.
At the Salzburg State Theatre, she first appeared in the 2021/22 season as Eva in Die Anschläge von nächster Woche and as Karoline in Kasimir und Karoline. In the 2022/23 season, she played Fanny Owen in "Die Entstehung des Lichts" and Medea in "Die Argonauten". In the 2023/24 season, she took on the role of the Fury Megaira in "Die Erfindung der Demokratie – Die Orestie", followed by Athene in "Odyssee" in the subsequent season.
