Su Bühler
The Stuttgart-born artist initially worked as a costume assistant at the Lower Saxony State Theatre in Hanover and at the Bavarian State Theatre in Munich. Following her first collaborations with director Matthias Hartmann, she served as Head Costume Designer under his artistic directorship at Schauspielhaus Bochum (2000–2005) and Schauspielhaus Zurich (2005–2009).
Among their most significant joint productions are the world premieres of Botho Strauß’ plays "Der Narr und seine Frau heute Abend in Pancomedia" (2001) at Schauspielhaus Bochum and "Nach der Liebe beginnt ihre Geschichte" (2005) at Schauspielhaus Zurich, the opening production of the Ruhrtriennale under Gerard Mortier, "Deutschland, deine Lieder" (2002), as well as Christian Kracht’s "1979", staged at Zeche 1 as a production of Schauspielhaus Bochum (2003).
In addition, Su Bühler has worked as a freelance costume designer with directors such as Andreas Kriegenburg, Konstanze Lauterbach, Helge Schneider, David Bösch, Wilfried Minks, Maria Happel, Jürgen Kruse, Georg Schmiedleitner, and Alexandra Liedtke. Her engagements have taken her, among others, to the Zurich Opera House, the Gran Teatre del Liceu in Barcelona, the Burgtheater in Vienna, the Mikhailovsky Theatre in Saint Petersburg, the Vienna State Opera, and the Salzburg Festival.
