Tatev Baroyan

The Armenian-American soprano Tatev Baroyan was born in Yerevan, Armenia, into a family of musicians. She studied at the P. I. Tchaikovsky Music School and later at the Yerevan State Conservatory, majoring in vocal performance under the guidance of Hasmik Hatsagortsyan.
Tatev Baroyan is an alumna of the Sarasota Opera Apprentice Program and the Teatro Nuovo Studio Artist Program. During this time, she made her debut at Sarasota Opera in the role of Papagena ("Die Zauberflöte").
Her operatic repertoire includes Zerlina ("Don Giovanni"), Musetta ("La Bohème"), Liú ("Turandot"), Anoush ("Anoush" by A. Tigranyan), and Micaëla ("Carmen"). As a concert soloist, she has performed in Yerevan, Sarasota, St. Petersburg (Florida), and New York City.
She made her debut with New York City Opera in the world premiere of "The Garden of the Finzi-Contini" by Ricky Ian Gordon as cover for the title role of Micòl Finzi-Contini. Recent engagements include Alaide ("La straniera" by Bellini), Anna ("Maometto II" by Rossini), Berta ("Il barbiere di Siviglia" by Rossini), as well as concert performances of Rossini’s "Stabat Mater" with Teatro Nuovo.
Highlights of her 2022/2023 season include her return to New York City Opera, where she made her debut as Annina and served as cover for Violetta ("La Traviata"), directed by Michael Capasso and conducted by Konstantin Orbelian. She also appeared as Berta ("Il barbiere di Siviglia") in a production directed by Helena Binder.
During the 2022/2023 season, Tatev Baroyan won Second Prize in the Southeast Region of the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition and First Prize at the Florida District level. She is also a recipient of the Hope for the Future of Opera Award at the Batumian Rhapsody Opera’s Golden Voice International Competition and has received numerous other honors, including Third Prize at the Premiere Opera Foundation International Vocal Competition.
She has participated in masterclasses with internationally renowned artists such as Erin Morley, Carol Vaness, and others.
