Theodore Browne

Opera

Born in Manchester, UK, and raised in Germany as the son of British and South African parents, Theodore Browne studied with Thomas Heyer in Frankfurt. He received vocal coaching from renowned mentors including Camilla Überschär and Raina Kabaivanska, as well as Helmut Duetsch, Ernesto Palacio, Nayden Todorov, and Eugen Wangler.

During the 2024/2025 season, Theodore Browne appeared as Don Ramiro in Rossini’s La Cenerentola at Staatstheater Darmstadt and as Conte di Libenskof in “Il viaggio a Reims” at Salzburger Landestheater. Recent roles include Count Almaviva in “Il barbiere di Siviglia” at Salzburger Landestheater and English National Opera, Nemorino in Donizetti’s “L’elisir d’amore” at Staatstheater Darmstadt, and several roles in a production of “The Convert” at Theater Bielefeld.

In previous seasons, he appeared as Conte di Libenskof in “Il viaggio a Reims” at the Rossini Festival in Pesaro, as Camille de Rosillon in “The Merry Widow” and in several roles in “L’incoronazione di Poppea” at Opernhaus Wuppertal, as Prince Ramiro in “La Cenerentola” at the Latvian National Opera in Riga, as Ferrando in Mozart’s “Così fan tutte”, Lindoro in Rossini’s “L’italiana in Algeri”, and Tamino in Mozart’s “The Magic Flute” at Tiroler Landestheater, as well as the Prince in Berg’s “Lulu” at Staatstheater Darmstadt. He has also performed Rossini’s “Stabat Mater” in concert with the Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic Orchestra.

He has additionally performed at venues and festivals including the Alte Oper Frankfurt, the Sopot Summer Festival, the Weilburg Palace Festival, and the Rheingau Music Festival. He is the winner of several competitions, including the 2014 International Music Competition at the University of Music and Dance Cologne, the 2016 Bundeswettbewerb Gesang, the 2018 international Ebe Stignati Competizione Imola, the 2018 international “Meistersinger von Nürnberg” Vocal Competition, and the 2019 Queen Sonia International Music Competition.
