Vesselin Hristov

The Bulgarian tenor studied voice at the State Music Academy in Sofia, graduating with a Master’s degree. He has appeared as a guest artist in Switzerland, Italy, Greece, Spain, and Poland, and has participated in numerous audio and video recordings for radio and television. In addition, he has performed in solo concerts.

His operatic roles include: Alfredo in “La Traviata”, the Duke in “Rigoletto”, Manrico in “Il Trovatore”, Cavaradossi in “Tosca”, Rodolfo in “La Bohème”, Tom Rakewell in “The Rake’s Progress”, Edwin in “Die Csárdásfürstin”, Sou-Chong in “Das Land des Lächelns”, Jozsi and Jonel in “Zigeunerliebe”, Pedrillo in “Die Entführung aus dem Serail”, Tamino in “Die Zauberflöte”, and Antonio in “Die Verlobung im Kloster”.

His repertoire also includes major sacred works such as: the “Requiem” by W. A. Mozart, the “Requiem” by G. Verdi, “The Seven Last Words of Our Savior on the Cross” by J. Haydn, the “Requiem” by A. Bruckner, the “Mass in A” by C. Franck, the “Magnificat” by J. S. Bach, and the “Missa Sanctae Cyrilli et Methodii” by J. M. Haydn.

He has recorded several solo CDs, including “Puccini – Tenor Arias” (MMO, USA), “The Seven Last Words of Our Savior on the Cross” by J. Haydn (Gega New), and “Dreams of Spain” by A. Haydu (Hungaroton Classic).

Since 1998, he has been a member of the chorus at the Salzburg State Theatre, where he has performed various roles in “Jesus Christ Superstar”, “Wozzeck”, “Kiss Me, Kate”, “La Traviata”, and “Eugene Onegin”.
