Stage and Costume Design
he New York City–based costume and scenic designer has created designs for productions in the United States, Europe, and China, including “Un Giorno di Regno”, “Annie Get Your Gun”, and “Blizzard in Marblehead Neck” (Glimmerglass Festival), “The Tales of Hoffmann” (NCPA Beijing, directed by Francesca Zambello), “Aida” (Amstetten), “Rockville” and “Hairspray” (Deutsches Theater München), “Baden-Baden 1927” (Gotham Chamber Opera), “Jekyll & Hyde”, “West Side Story” (Theater Magdeburg), “Spelling Bee”, “A Christmas Carol”, “Little Shop of Horrors”, “Liberty Smith” (Ford’s Theatre), “All’s Well That Ends Well” (Shakespeare Theatre), “Gospel at Colonus” (ZACH Theatre), “Good News”, “Meet John Doe” (Goodspeed Musicals), “Lend Me a Tenor”, “Other People’s Money”, “Fiddler on the Roof”, “Cabaret” (Engeman Theatre, New York), “Stagedoor Canteen” (WWII Museum, New Orleans), “O Wondrous Night”, “Azul”, “Christmas Countdown”, “Monster Stomp” (SeaWorld), and “IllumiNights” (Busch Gardens).
He also served as Assistant Designer on the Broadway productions of “Guys & Dolls”, “Grease”, “Lestat”, “Little Women”, “The Coast of Utopia”, “Cry Baby”, “South Pacific”, “Mauritius”, and “High Fidelity”, as well as Associate Set Designer for the world premiere of the Udo Jürgens musical “Ich war noch niemals in New York” at the Operettenhaus Hamburg.
For television, he worked as a Guest Designer for ABC’s “All My Children” and “One Life to Live”. He twice achieved first place at the Southeastern Conference Theater competition and received the Barbizon Award at the Kennedy Center / American College Theater Festival. His watercolors are held in private collections in the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, Austria, and Switzerland.
Court Watson holds an MFA from New York University and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Virginia Commonwealth University. He is a member of United Artists Scenic Local 829.
“Annie” is now, after “Die Fledermaus”, “Wir gründen eine Bank”, “The Sound of Music”, “Himmel über Berlin”, “Frau Luna”, “Jonny spielt auf”, and “Der Nussknacker”, Court Watson’s eighth production at the Salzburg State Theatre.
