Christoph Wieschke

Drama

Christoph Wieschke grew up in Berlin. After training as a toolmaker, he studied acting at the Max Reinhardt Seminar in Vienna.

His career has taken him to the state theaters in Karlsruhe and Saarbrücken as well as to the Schauspielbühnen Stuttgart. Since the 2009/2010 season, Wieschke has been a member of the ensemble at the Salzburg State Theatre, where he played the title role in Goethe’s "Faust I" and "Faust II" for many years with great success. He has appeared in around a hundred productions in Salzburg, showcasing an impressive range: dramatic and comedic roles, classics and contemporary premieres, solo evenings and ensemble productions, musicals, puppet theatre, and stylized performances. From intimate chamber plays to large-scale productions at the Landestheater and the Felsenreitschule, Wieschke’s acting is always searching, always compelling—at times delicate, then forceful, quirky, and deeply moving.

In addition to his stage career, Wieschke has long worked as an acting teacher. His guiding principle, for himself and his students, is a quote from Max Reinhardt: “The actor’s task is not disguise, but revelation.”
