Theatre Festival
Synopsis
WELCOME IN: THE SALZBURG STATE THEATRE OPENS ITS DOORS AND INVITES YOU TO THE THEATER FESTIVAL!
On September 14th, the theater opens its doors at 12:30 pm and invites you to a theater festival offering exclusive behind-the-scenes insights, chances for conversation, and a welcoming introduction to the new season.
The program begins on the main stage with a rare opportunity to listen in on a rehearsal of Rossini’s richly textured opera "Il viaggio a Reims", conducted by Carlo Benedetto Cimento. Armin Frauenschuh, the new Managing Director of the Ballet Ensemble in Salzburg, together with Ballet Director Reginaldo Oliveira and the ensemble, will present their upcoming creation "Fridas World". Director Nuran David Calis and dramaturg Clara Bender have adapted Homer’s Odyssey — in a conversational matinee, the ensemble shares fascinating insights into the myth of the eternal wanderer. Wolfgang Götz presents highlights from the extensive repertoire of the Salzburg Festival and Theater Children’s Choir.
Author Mareike Fallwickl will read from her latest novel "Und alle so still" with members of the ensemble. The theatrical adaptation, directed by Susanne Schmelcher, will premiere in April.
For younger audiences, excerpts from the first production of the season, Ulrich Hub’s enchanting story about three penguins who refuse to be separated even in times of great hardship — "An der Arche um Acht" — will be presented. Additional workshops invite participation, the makeup department offers face painting and mask decorating to spark creativity, and visitors can also get a glimpse behind the scenes in lighting and sound. The theater’s costume workshop will showcase the creation of spectacular costumes and offer private photoshoots, with live work demonstrations in the atelier.
One of the highlights will be the many tours throughout the theater: Izzi, the theater mouse, leads the youngest visitors, while more experienced theater enthusiasts can join frequent tours led by professionals from various departments. Of course, theater catering will provide delicious refreshments. Celebrate with us at the theater!
