An english-german children's play / 6+
Synopsis
Max has more playthings than one can imagine. but he is terribly bored in spite of that - until Sally appears. A strange girl, Max finds; she only speaks English and a few bits of German. So she and Max communicate with their hands and feet. Sally comes from Africa. Africa! Max has already heard a lot about it and he has also seen a few films. He has a thousand images in his head, of safaris and big-game hunting, of wild animals and exciting adventures. In his mess of toys there are a few stuffed animals: a lion, a giraffe, a rhinoceros, and even a real safari jeep. Sally is impressed: an African toyland. Both play together and Sally adjusts Max's adventurous perception of Africa a little bit: Africa is her home, where she lived a quite normal and beautiful life until she had to flee with her family to Europe. Everything is different here; Sally does not understand the people and does not feel welcome sometimes. She is homesick. Her new friend Max searches for a way to cheer her up - and he finally finds one ...
Children see the world with different eyes and, through playing, find ways to each other that remain hidden to adults.

Reviews
