The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe
Loosely based on the story by C. S. Lewis
A Fairy Tale with Dance / 10+
Synopsis
The brothers and sisters Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy discover, in a secret cupboard, the entrance to a magical land: Narnia! They come across many incredible creatures, such as the fawn Mr Tumnus, who tell them about the rule of terror of the tyrannical »White Witch« Jadis. For a hundred years she has covered the land with an endless winter and turns into stone anyone who doesn’t obey her. Now she is on a hunt for the brothers and sisters for fear that an old prophecy might come true and throw her off her throne. The Four survive thrilling adventures, then a battle starts that puts their relationship to the test. It seems impossible to break the spell and defeat the Witch until they succeed in reaching the mighty lion Aslan, the rightful Ruler of Narnia.
The seven volumes of »The Chronicles of Nania» by C.S. Lewis have meanwhile sold more than 100 million copies. Centre stage of the ballet adventure is the best known Second Volume »The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe«. Shortly after the costly revamp (2005-2010) three volumes of the adventures of the brothers and sisters appeared - to the delight of fans and young people throughout the whole world.
The fairy-tale like Ballet productions designed for a young audience appear in the third round as part of the choreography of Josef Vesely and Kate Watson. After »Dance around the World in 80 days« and »Wild im Wald« the fantastical characters of Narnia come alive in a modern dance performed by the Salzburg State Theatre Ballet Ensemble. A strong dramatic piece which also contains many comic moments.

Reviews
