In German, ages 5 and up

Version by Marco Dott based on the singspiel by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and Emanuel Schikaneder

Premiere: 25 April 2026 / Salzburg State Theatre

Synopsis

Oh no – little Anna has gotten lost! She plays her magical flute and suddenly finds herself in the world of opera. And right there she lands in front of Prince Tamino, who is being chased by a dragon. A few notes from Anna’s flute – and the dragon starts to shrink. Soon it’s so tiny that it even scares itself.

Tamino is on his way to the wizard Sarastro to rescue Princess Pamina, the daughter of the Queen of the Night. So Anna and Tamino set off together, joined by the bird-catcher Papageno – and the dragon. But before they can reach their goal, they must face a series of difficult trials.

In Marco Dott’s new production, "The Little Magic Flute" becomes an exciting and funny adventure for young audiences. Full of energy and with great affection for its characters, the staging brings Anna’s story and her newly formed friendships to life on stage. A perfect introduction to the thrilling world of opera.
