Dramolette

A two-piece Theatre evening with mini-dramas by Thomas Bernhard and a world premier of texts by young authors

Premiere: 09/25/2014

Synopsis

Imma nu schee / AUTORENPROJEKT DER udk berlin

Der deutsche Mittagstisch / Thomas bernhard

In addition to the rhetorical grand forms, Thomas Bernhard mastered the artist and upper class dramas just as expertly as the politically exaggerated short farce and the one-act folk play in the Upper Bavarian idiom. Between 1977 and 1981, seven mini-dramas dealing with the German lunch table and its quite commonplace fascism were created: viciously trenchant and terribly funny. Many of the rhetorical figures and the grotesque dramatic material that Bernhard also emplys in his other texts are found in the dialect-tinged discourse of these dramatic, anti-genre tableaus. In all of the mini-dramas, the truisms of intolerance, xenophobia and fascist thought sprout their blossoms.

What is happening at the German-Austrian lunch table in the 21st century? The Salzburg State Theatre places new texts alongside the great poet's work. As part of an author's project with the study course "Creative Stage Writing" at the Berlin University of Arts (UdK), young German and Austrian writers were invited to contribute their own short playlets about the modern insights at local lunch tables. Claus Tröger, who premiered the one-act play "Agnes" by Jakob Nolte, at that time a UdK student, at the Salzburg State Theatre in the 2012/2013 season in the scope of the "Poets at the Theatre" series, has signed on again to execute this project.

A two-piece Theatre evening with mini-dramas by Thomas Bernhard and texts by Paul Bullinger, Elsa-Sophie Donata Jach, Nadine Kaufmann, Thomas Köck, Edda Reimann, Fanny Sorgo und Stefan Wipplinger.

Reviews
