Faust
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
Synopsis
Modern man par excellence: Goethe's Faust is the image of a restless person who strives for knowledge and puts deeds in place of words. Mephistopheles promises to satisfy Faust's insatiable hunger for action and knowledge. Faust bets his soul against it and sets off with Mephisto on a road trip full of new experiences, the climax of which culminates in the encounter with young Margarethe.
“The production by director Carl Philip von Maldeghem shows a modern and visually impressive version of the material. […] 'Faust' in the Salzburg State Theater is undoubtedly an enriching, thrilling and touching theater experience and allows an old classic to shine in new splendor.” Reichenhaller Tagblatt
