Faust Fantasia
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe / Peter Stein
Synopsis
Peter Stein’s famous productions of “Faust I” and “Faust II”, whose full-length presentation during the Expo 2000 in Hanover lasted for a total of 22 hours, will take centre stage at the Salzburg State Theatre in a – primarily – musical experience on 11 January 2020. After many sold-out performances in Hanover, Berlin and Vienna, Arturo Annecchino, who had composed the music for the Faust project, came up with the idea to compile parts of the music for a very special evening.
Focusing on the love story between Faust and Margarete in “Faust I”, Stein recites all the roles himself, accompanied by pianist Giovanni Vitaletti. The audience will watch Peter Stein in many alternating roles, from Faust and Mephistopheles to Margarete and the witches – a passionate, humorous and highly musical performance, supported by Arturo Annecchino’s atmospheric music.
