Synopsis
Frida Kahlo is an icon of Latin American painting. Today, her unmistakable works are known around the globe – as is her life, marked by pain, passion and political activism. In her many self-portraits, Kahlo processed physical suffering, internal conflicts and the search for her own identity. She was also a strong voice of Mexican Marxism, travelled all the way to Europe as an artist and lived her life to the fullest. Creative Curator and Head Choreographer Reginaldo Oliveira portrays this fascinating persona in a powerful choreography, inspired by the emotional depth and bright colours of Kahlo’s art.
Following the Salzburg premiere in 2024, the play was successfully adapted at the Theatro Municipal in Rio de Janeiro last year and has since been very popular with international audiences.
