Memorial service for Prof. Lutz Hochstraate

The Salzburg State Theatre mourns the passing of its former Artistic Director, Professor Lutz Hochstraate, who has died at the age of 84. Prof. Lutz Hochstraate was associated with the Salzburg State Theatre for a total of 23 years. For 18 years, from 1986 to 2004, he led the theatre with great success as Artistic Director. Prior to that, he served as Senior Director and staged more than 100 productions. In 2012, he was awarded honorary membership of the Salzburg State Theatre.

Over many decades, he had a profound influence on Salzburg’s cultural life. The high quality of the Salzburg State Theatre as a multi-genre institution, as well as its strong support among subscribers and the local population, are rooted in his successful work. He was thus one of the most influential theatre figures in Salzburg.

The Salzburg State Theatre wishes to honour his memory and invites you to a memorial service in the Grand Hall.
