Homo Faber

Max Frisch

In German

Renewal: 11/28/2016

Synopsis

A success story now enters its eighth season: Director Volkmar Kamm already developed his stage version of Max Frisch's "Homo Faber" at the Salzburg State Theatre in the 2009/2010 season.

Against all probability, Walter Faber, the matter-of-fact man, faces the unforeseeable, which confounds his emotions and his reason. A chain of coincidences allows him to get acquainted with the young Sabeth on a cruise ship. He anticipates what he does not want to know: that she is his daughter. But then Sabeth dies. In their mourning, the parents encounter each other anew. Homo Faber, the technician, founders on the unpredictability of life that confronts him with his quilt and with his own mortality.
