Anniversary Gala: 60 Years the Sound of Music

A once-in-a-lifetime event with the international Sound of Music family

Synopsis

A must see concert for all Sound of Music fans

The event and the location promise to be iconic: Set in the famous festival hall which was the original place where the concert scene in the movie was shot, the Salzburg State Theatre in cooperation with SalzburgerLand Tourism presents an all-star event celebrating the 60th anniversary of the one and only movie which is so connected with its Austrian legacy.

Musical meets movie

The gala will feature original scenes from the musical and will bring the original von Trapp family as well as original stars of the movie into one place which will turn this event into a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

Members of the real von Trapp family will perform at the gala, sharing stories about their grandmother, the legendary Maria von Trapp, and the true history of their family. They will also offer insights into the von Trapp family’s life after their emigration.

Nicholas Hammond who playedFriedrich in the original movie "The Sound of Music" will co-host the gala event and will be joined by other stars of the original movie. This will be a great opportunity to learn more about their experiences while filming a movie in Salzburg which nobody thought would be so successful.

Musical stars Lukas Perman and Patrizia Unger will lead the Salzburg cast as Captain and Maria. The original cast of the Salzburg State Theater production is joined by the famous Mozarteum Orchestra presenting some of the most beautiful scenes of the stage production.

All the family members, the movie and musical stars will be joined by the more than 100 children of the Salzburg Festival and State Theatre Youth Choir, an ensemble which has proudly been presenting the legacy of the sound of music in Salzburg for more than 15 years.

The governor and the mayor of Salzburg are proud to present this event in one of the original movie locations.

Get ready for a special moment: Eurovision winner JJ – a true fan at heart – is set to deliver a unique and heartfelt performance.
