A Night of Forgotten Plays

In cooperation with the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung and with Tropen Verlag

Date 01/30/2021 / Salzburg State Theatre

Synopsis

“There are some who are in darkness / And the others are in light / And you see the ones in brightness / Those in darkness drop from sight.” Even though Bertolt Brecht’s lyrics refer to people, the same could be said about theatre plays: Some become staples of season programmes – while others remain in darkness. Why is that? Are these plays unjustly forgotten? Our “Night of Forgotten Plays” provides a highly enjoyable opportunity to explore these questions.

With a mix of performances, dramatic readings, dance and video art, concerts and panel discussions, this theatre night presents and celebrates many suggestions that have been made for changes to the season programme.

An ensemble of several generations of actors, directors, choreographers, musicians, stage designers, journalists and scientists will present plays from four centuries in a twelve-hour theatre marathon.
