Monologue Festival
Synopsis
The Salzburg State Theatre and the Landestheater Linz join their artistic forces for the 2027 Monologue Festival. Two consecutive weekends in June 2027 will focus on individual voices performing serious, political, poetic and also humorous texts.
Monologues serve as a concentrated artistic exploration of the world of today: one person, one voice, one space. In times of uncertainties in society, politics and the media, the works presented here discuss issues of public representation, artistic aspirations, self-assertion and freedom – in between resistance, self-mockery and exaggeration.
The artistic focus of the 2027 Monologue Festival is on curated monologue productions. These are performed at both venues, in Salzburg and in Linz, and each of the performances is given equal weight.
As a separate part of the programme, the Monologue Festival will also encompass a drama contest, whose topic will be revealed at a later date.
Experience familiar and unfamiliar dramatic voices and thrilling perspectives on our complex world!
