The Sound of Music
Richard Rodgers / Oscar Hammerstein II
Buch von Howard Lindsay und Russel Crouse / In deutscher Sprache mit englischen Übertiteln
Synopsis
The hit musical “The Sound of Music” returns to the Salzburg State Theatre.
Baron von Trapp is played by Salzburg-born musical star Lukas Perman. He studied at the Mozarteum Salzburg and the Konservatorium Wien and gave his debut in the musical “Elisabeth” at the Theater an der Wien when he was still a student. He went on to take many leading roles, for instance at the Vereinigte Bühnen Wien, the Vienna Volksoper and the Bühne Baden.
Lukas Perman has also had many theatrical engagements in non-German-speaking countries, especially in Japan.
Musical actress and ensemble member Patrizia Unger stars as Maria.
The musical by Richard Rodgers (music), Oscar Hammerstein II (lyrics) and Howard Lindsay and Russel Crouse (book) premiered on 16 November 1959 at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre in New York. The 1965 film of the same name, starring Julie Andrews, was based on the musical and partly shot in the story’s original settings in Salzburg. It became a huge success and has been watched by 1.2 billion people across the globe to this day.
With its precise and loving characterisations and its kitsch-free approach, the Salzburg production by Andreas Gergen and Christian Struppeck has exceeded all expectations and has long become an iconic audience favourite.

Reviews
