Greetings from the Home Office
It’s not always easy, but after a bit of trial and error, making music, dancing, and playing at home works (more or less).
Members of the Salzburg State Theatre invite you to join in homedancing, homesinging, and homeplaying—offering glimpses into their very personal rehearsal spaces—and wish you lots of enjoyment.
Stay cheerful!
Márcia Jaqueline
Márcia Jaqueline radiates good spirits. The prima ballerina gives insights into her warm-up routine.
George Humphreys
This musical greeting shows that music is also highly valued in the Humphreys household.
Larissa Mota
Ballet dancer Larissa Mota improvises to music by Fiona Apple (“Why Try to Change Me Now”).
ONE HAND, ONE HEART
Now it begins, now we start
One hand, one heart;
Even death won't part us now.
Alexander Hüttner and Mona Akinola sing the love vow “One Hand, One Heart” by Tony and Maria from Leonard Bernstein’s “West Side Story,” accompanied by our new répétiteur Matthias Maier. The video was created for us by Bernhard Braunstein.
O Gentle Art
Right now, we can’t be together — but even less without each other… So Wolfgang Götz at the piano and Kerstin Wieschke at the music stand met up with Zsófia Mózer (vocals) and Chigusa Fujiyoshi to pay tribute to dear Art, which has brightened so many gray hours of life. Kate Watson turned the videos into a short film for us.
Du holde Kunst, in wieviel grauen Stunden,
Wo mich des Lebens wilder Kreis umstrickt,
Hast du mein Herz zu warmer Lieb‘ entzunden,
Hast mich in eine beßre Welt entrückt!
Oft hat ein Seufzer, deiner Harf‘ entflossen,
Ein süßer, heiliger Akkord von dir
Den Himmel beßrer Zeiten mir erschlossen,
Du holde Kunst, ich danke dir dafür!
– Schubert song to a text by Franz von Schober
A day in the life of an isolated baritone
He is accompanied by his colleague Eunjung Lee on the (disinfected) piano. Enjoy!
